Laser treatment of cold sores and ulcers works by breaking down the nerve cells, resulting in pain relief and increasing collagen production resulting in increased rate of healing of the lesion.
If topical ointments and medications are not helping your cold sores, you may be interested in laser treatment. The best time for cold-sore laser treatment is during the initial stages when patients feel slight pain or tingling. If we are able to catch the virus at this time, we can usually limit the outbreak. If you have already started to develop a blister, our laser treatment can still help by decreasing both pain and healing time.
